This fee applies to applicants who have multiple Summary offenses that are within the last 10 years, or an Indictable offense, and who require additional documents to be submitted in order to get the NPB to rush their Pardon application. Most often this is for employment related purposes where the applicant must be able to enter into secure areas and/or become bondable. Prioritized applications are usually processed by the NPB within 2 months after they are received by the board, instead of 6 to 8 months, which is normally the time it takes the NPB to complete their Background Investigation of the applicant.
Once this fee is received we will send you a draft letter (as a Word or Text document) that is worded very strongly, based on your particular situation, and which has been accepted for prioritization in the past by the NPB. If for employment you will need to get your current employer (or your potential employer) to print the letter on their letterhead and then sign it and return it to our office.
Note: If you are self-employed we will send you a draft letter, and then help you polish the letter based on your particular situation.
Note: If your application has already been received by the NPB we will send them a fax, which states an Urgent Priority Service Request has been made, and for them to watch out for the original letter, which is then sent by National XpressPost.
Note: Once the letter is received by the NPB they most likely will not contact you or your employer to verify the information in the letter. However, just in case they do we advise you and your employer keep a copy of the letter on hand.
